My Horticultural journey started more than 20 years ago working as a manager and supervisor at a plant nursery for a conservation project.
It was the growing aspect that got me hooked. Being a part of the growing process was exciting, providing different challenges and great diversity of work.
Over the years I’ve worked in a number of different environments each with unique plant related aspects.
My favourite to date was one that involved working with people with disabilities, teaching horticultural skills to help develop opportunities for employment. I think I learnt as much as I taught, discovering people who had special abilities and learning needs in a vibrant working environment.
By working varied roles in the horticultural field it has really helped me gain a wide open perspective on the gardening spectrum. I have been lucky enough to encounter some amazing industry leaders who have passed on their knowledge to me. Combined with my own experiences they have helped shape and mould my learning.
